Garage sale

Hello friends and family! It is Saturday night and I wanted to update everyone on our garage sale. After about 2-1/2 months of getting the donated items, sorting through them, pricing most of them, and figuring out where to keep all of them, I am very relieved to say that the garage sale was a huge success. Shortly after Garth and I decided to have this sale, I started praying for great weather, and the Lord delivered. All this week, the forecast was for rain both Friday and Saturday, so Garth and I started preparing to utilize our basement as well (which included putting up a handrail in the brick wall, cleaning the basement, getting tables down there, etc.) but on Friday it proved to be a beautiful day, there was a nice breeze, and it wasn't too hot. We officially opened our garage sale up at noon, but we had several people stop as they saw us setting up. We stopped the sale at around 6:00 and when we counted the money, we had made $280.50 (which was about $47/hour for the hours we were open). That's not too shabby! Friday evening it was supposed to rain so we brought in all the items that shouldn't be rained on and left the rest. Saturday morning when the alarm went off at 6:00 a.m., it was raining. We started talking about taking the tables to the basement, etc. but I decided to check the forecast and it said that the rain would stop by 7:00 and be nice all day. It did just that! I LOVE it when God just works things out like that! So, we slowly started bringing things outside again. We had wonderful help from my parents, Ned and Linelle Kelley, and Garth's parents, Ted and Esther. Later, my brother and his 2 sons (ages 5 and 3) came and they also helped some. My Aunt Ruth came around noon, and she also helped out. We had a steady stream of people until about 4:00 when it dropped off. We were able to tell a lot of people about our adoption and several people took our business cards that we made with our blog web address and Just Love Coffee fundraiser, which was exciting. My personal goal for the garage sale was to make enough for our next payment which totals $830. I am very excited to tell you that we made $880 total! We are SO THANKFUL for all the wonderful donations that people made as well as all the people who came to the garage sale. It was so great to meet our goal after so many hours of preparing, as well as spread the word about adoption. I am now totally exhausted so I'm going to bed, but I just couldn't wait to share our news. Sometime next week I will update you on our homestudy report, but right now my eyes are barely staying open. Good night and God Bless!

Love,

Garth and Carmen

Today I Kissed an Angel

Today I kissed an angel. I knew it from the start. The first time my angel smiled at me; I gave away my heart.

Today I kissed an angel; This angel child of mine. Though not of my creation, My child by God's design.

Today I kissed an angel. My heart is dancing wild; Our family, by a miracle; Blessed by our angel child.
