Biometrics appointment FINISHED!

Today is a great day! Why? First it's Friday and Fridays are always great. But mostly it's because Garth and I had our biometrics appointment in Omaha! What are biometrics? Fingerprints! This time it is for the federal government, though. This fingerprint appointment will allow us to get the I171-H that you have heard me talk about which will allow us to bring our children home. It's also the final step before we can submit our dossier to AWAA and ultimately to Ethiopia. Thus, it's a VERY exciting appointment. Now, we are simply waiting...and praying that the I171-H form gets here SOON!

In addition to our dossier, we will also be sending in the next installment of money which totals $7700. So far God has been AWESOME and we have always had a little more than what is required, and I know He's not going to stop now. We currently do not have $7700 in our savings account, but I know it will be there when the time comes! One thing that will help us with that endeavor is a grant that Garth and I have been approved for by Kingdom Kids Adoption Ministry. Instead of them just giving us money, they operate as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that allows our friends and family to donate money to them for us that will be tax deductible. Some of you reading this blog will receive a letter in the mail with a brochure that has a tear sheet for you to send in with your check. You can also donate online at The most important thing you need to know if you are going to donate by check, is that our name cannot be written anywhere on the check or it won't be considered tax deductible. If you don't want to use the tear sheet, simply put a sticky note with our name on it on the check so they know who the funds are to go to. We are very excited to have been approved for this fund.

Thanks so much for your prayers and assistance! We are almost done paperchasing!!!!!

Calling all aluminum can beverage drinkers! Garth and I are going to begin another adoption fundraiser that you can participate in (how exciting, right?)! We would like to begin collecting any UNCRUSHED aluminum cans. Most of you probably sort your cans from your garbage already, right? Well instead of taking them to your local recycling center, you can save them for us and we will recycle them for you! If you live in the Oakland area, you can bring them to our house or we will be happy to come to your house and get them as well. We would like your pop, beer, energy drinks, V8, Starbucks coffee drinks, juice, and any other aluminum cans that you have. Just let us know that you have a bunch for us and we'll work something out to come collect them. Thank you SO MUCH for your assistance in this. Just remember...they have to be aluminum UNCRUSHED, so give those crushing muscles a rest. :-)

Puzzle Update

I wanted to give you an update on our puzzle FUNdraiser. Thank you to those who have already participated in bringing our children home! I have posted a picture of how much of the puzzle we have had sponsored so far. As you can see there are still quite a few puzzle pieces to be sponsored. If you would like to sponsor a piece, you can send us $10 by check (preferred) or through Paypal. Your name will be written on the puzzle piece so our children will have a neat reminder of all the people who helped to bring them home. Thanks for your help!

Biometrics appointment

After waiting almost two weeks from when I mailed our I-600A, I finally decided to see if I could find out the date of our biometrics appointment electronically instead of stalking our mailbox every day. So this afternoon I e-mailed NBC (National Benefits Center) to see where we were at in the process. I didn't really expect to get an answer today, so you can guess at my excitement when I saw that unopened e-mail in my inbox. I was almost afraid to open it, worrying that they would say, "I'm sorry, you have to wait for the letter in the mail", but THEY DIDN'T! Trina said "You have both been scheduled for fingerprint appointments on July 30th, 2010 at 8:00am. The notices have been sent out in the mail and you should be receiving them in the next couple of days." I literally jumped up from my chair and shouted WHOO HOO!!! Once we get our biometrics appointment completed, then I will be stalking our mailbox again until we get the ever so important I-171H. Our paper chasing process is coming to an end...HALLELUJAH!

Would you like a free magnet?

So you sit down at the beginning of your day and make yourself a cup of coffee and think "What's missing here"? What could possibly make a fresh roasted cup of coffee from taste better? Why gazing upon a free magnet of course! (Normally I would say doughnuts, but by the time we mailed them to you, they would be stale). Garth and I are going to give the first five NEW customers to our Just Love Coffee store one of our super-cute I Dream of Africa magnets. What do you have to do you ask? Go to, order one of the bags of coffee on the site, and then wait about 2 to 3 days for the coffee to come to your door. We will be notified of those who purchased the coffee, and if we have your address already we will send you the magnet for free! If we don't have your address, we will notify you to get it and then mail the magnet out for free! How easy is that? So hurry!

Today I Kissed an Angel

Today I kissed an angel. I knew it from the start. The first time my angel smiled at me; I gave away my heart.

Today I kissed an angel; This angel child of mine. Though not of my creation, My child by God's design.

Today I kissed an angel. My heart is dancing wild; Our family, by a miracle; Blessed by our angel child.
