Our ice cream cake

In case you aren't my FB friend, here is a picture of the ice cream cake we got. I had to spell it out to the Dairy Queen employee who answered the phone and when she asked what that meant, I said we were celebrating that our boys from Ethiopia had been home a year. She said "Oh! That is SO COOL! CONGRATULATIONS!" I thought they did a great job with the cake, don't you agree? :-)

1 year home!

Wow, what a year it has been! One year ago today at around 4:45 pm, Grandma Kelley, the boys and I walked up the ramp at Eppley Airfield and the second Jeremiah saw Daddy, he started running to him! It was amazing. Granddad Kelley was also there to greet us. We said our good-byes to Grandma and Granddad and piled into our car for our first car ride in America. Jeremiah was NOT thrilled about having to ride in the car seats, but he soon forgot about it as we started driving away and he was seeing his new country for the first time. It was so fun to see the wonder in their eyes and this strange new place. They both stayed awake while we drove to Blair, Nebraska where we had supper at Runza. After supper, we got back in the car and the boys were asleep within a few minutes of leaving Blair. When we got home, we carried them in the house and put them on the couch where they still slept. The boys and I went to bed....home at last. The next morning, the boys woke up about 4:30 a.m. and we kept them up until about 1:00 nap time to try to get them on the American time, and it worked! They napped for about 3 hours and then we put them in bed around 8:00 that night and they slept all night and woke up around 7:00 the next morning. Jet lag for them - HA! As I think about all the new things they have seen and done this past year and all the new people, experiences, and changes they have encountered, I just marvel at how well they have adjusted. They have thrived here with us and we couldn't be happier with how God orchestrated our family together. Enjoy some pictures from our trip home last year.

Happy birthday to me!

Last year at this time, I was in Ethiopia with my boys....but without Garth. Also, Jeremiah had chicken pox so we were pretty much confined to our suite on the 2nd floor of Yebsabi Guest House. Thankfully we had a balcony so the boys could watch the "macenas" come and go, throw the soccer ball down to the guards (and other families) and have them throw them back up to us. Because we were "banished", I hadn't told anyone it was my birthday, but of course because of Facebook and the many, many happy birthday wishes, they found out. Later that week we had a little birthday celebration down in the lobby/dining room. I loved it! This year, we are all home and we are getting to spend it as a family. It has been wonderful so far! I have an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen and later this evening we are going to go to Fremont for dinner and then (oh joy) grocery shopping.

Today I Kissed an Angel

Today I kissed an angel. I knew it from the start. The first time my angel smiled at me; I gave away my heart.

Today I kissed an angel; This angel child of mine. Though not of my creation, My child by God's design.

Today I kissed an angel. My heart is dancing wild; Our family, by a miracle; Blessed by our angel child.
