Memorial Day weekend

Hello everyone! It is June already and I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. What did you do to celebrate? Well we took our very first camping trip as a family of 4 at Platte River State Park and stayed in one of their teepees Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings and came back home on Monday. The boys LOVED IT! We got there around 7:30 Friday night and unpacked everything. We were in the teepee farthest from the parking lot so we got a good workout. They do have a pull cart so that was helpful and the boys did help as well. They took their bikes and learned how to go off-road biking. At first they didn't like the bumpiness of the dirt, but they soon got over that hesitation and sped down the hills. On Friday there were a couple other families camping together in the 2 teepees closest to ours and they had several girls ranging in age from probably 3 to 15. They were all very friendly and invited the boys to play with them too so that was fun. They left on Friday morning and even though the teepees were booked for the whole weekend, no one came on Friday night which was AWESOME because we were having some friends come to grill out. These friends have all adopted children from Africa (mostly Ethiopia) and we have formed a Facebook group called EthiOmaha so we try to get together fairly regularly. The weather was perfect, the hot dogs were tasty and the s'mores were a big hit. There were a few older girls (like 13) who also came so they entertained the kids so the adults could talk. On Sunday we had a church service right there in the teepee and explained to the boys why we were celebrating Memorial Day. After lunch, we went swimming and both boys got brave enough to put their head under the water so that was a big accomplishment for them. The weather was really pretty nice the whole time we were there and only on Sunday night did it rain. Garth and I have gone camping there in the teepees 3 times now and it has rained at least 1 night every time so we have gotten pretty good about getting out of the way of the rain. The boys actually slept right through it and didn't get wet at all. When we were on our way home, I asked the boys what their favorite thing about camping was and Jeremiah said "being outside" and Simon said "playing with kids." They both wondered when we would go again. :-) Please feel free to share your Memorial Day activities in the comments as well! I would love to see how you all celebrate.

Today I Kissed an Angel

Today I kissed an angel. I knew it from the start. The first time my angel smiled at me; I gave away my heart.

Today I kissed an angel; This angel child of mine. Though not of my creation, My child by God's design.

Today I kissed an angel. My heart is dancing wild; Our family, by a miracle; Blessed by our angel child.
