Fundraiser Friday on Sunday (Again)

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend! I am excited about this post because I'm going to be sharing about our NEXT fundraiser that I am SO excited about! First, though, I'll give you an update on the Cards for a Cause. This week I sold 1 box of the all-purpose and 1 box of the kid's cards to my friend Troi E and her family. That means that I currently have 1 more all-occasion box left and 5 of the kids cards left. Again, we will be receiving $15.89 per box sold so to date with this fundraiser we have made $143.01! Yeah!

Our next fundraiser will be held November 4-18 from Blessings Unlimited (but you can start browsing now). Blessings Unlimited was founded in 2006 by DaySpring© Inc., the world's leading producer of Christian greeting cards and gifts. DaySpring is a subsidiary of Hallmark® Cards. For 40 years, DaySpring has partnered with Christian stores in local communities to offer meaningful products. Blessings Unlimited continues that tradition and extends the opportunity for your business and personal faith to coincide.

Based in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, the name Blessings Unlimited is based on this Scripture from John:

From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another. John 1:16 NIV
This summer while I was at a county fair manning a Pampered Chef booth, I saw this booth across the building from me that had such cute and beautiful Christian decor, games, books, etc. From those couple days at the fair, I got to know a couple of the consultants and knew I wanted to have a fundraiser show with them. Alice Klitz happened to be the person I asked and she readily agreed to have this show for us! Alice has graciously agreed to give us 25% of her commission that she makes on the orders for our show, so let's get those orders in! These products would make GREAT Christmas presents so get your shopping done early and avoid the crowds! Some of the products that I loved are the puzzle cards, the Psalm 23/Jesus Loves the Little Children double-sided puzzle (which we got as a gift from another consultant named Lisa), and the ABC Faith-Based Magnets

Cards for a Cause

I know I missed our Fundraiser Friday post but I have a good excuse....I was at a women's retreat and was enjoying some time with dear friends. Also, because on Friday I didn't have any news to share. On that day we had still not sold a single box of cards...then.

This weekend, however, I was able to sell 4 of the all-purpose card boxes and 1 of the kid's card boxes to my wonderful Friends Forever! I also have orders for 2 more boxes of the all-purpose cards! That's 7 boxes in 3 days! Woo hoo! Thank you to Alice C, Rita O, Karen L, Ellie K, and Mom for purchasing/ordering cards. :-)

So for the rest of you, that means we have 2 more all-occasion card boxes left and 6 of the kids left. Again, they are $31.10 per box which includes tax. If we mail them to you, the shipping cost will be added to the $31.10.

Sarah's Song

If you have read my blog for any length of time, you know that I am a big advocate of ending the current slavery that plagues us around the world. So when I received a FB message that a new video called Sarah's Song would be available for view today I knew I had to share it with everyone I possibly could. This video has added interest to me because I know the 2 people who wrote the lyrics, Julaine Christensen and Sean Keith. Sean is the worship leader at Lifegate Church where we attend and I met Julaine through Women's Aglow. It amazes me how many people there are here in America (and across the world) who don't know that slavery exists today in the form of sex trafficking and child labor. This song specifically addresses sex trafficking which is a $32 billion/year industry which brings in more revenue than the NFL, NBA, and MLB combined. I urge you to support a REPUTABLE agency who is fighting the fight against trafficking including Julaine Ministries, Indian Rescue Mission, or World Vision, to name a few. Please, share this video with everyone you know. I would LOVE to see it go viral!

Fundraiser Friday

Friday is here again! As you know, we are currently having a Cards for a Cause fundraiser and this time I have pictures! To date, we have sold.....0 boxes. So, I'm going to step up the promoting. These cards are so cute and I KNOW without a shadow of a doubt that you will like them if you buy them. The people you send them to will like them even more. :-) If we can hand deliver the boxes to you, it will cost you $31.10 for 30 cards. If we ship it to you, then the price would be $31.10 plus whatever the cheapest shipping rate is. Check out these adorable cards! Wouldn't you like to receive one?

We also have some other fundraisers that are ongoing.

Cans: We continue to recycle cans so if you live near us and don't recycle, let us do it for you! We would love to come over and pick them up from you.

Sponsor a puzzle piece: So far we have no sponsored puzzle pieces. To sponsor a piece, you just send us $5 and we will write your name on the back of the puzzle piece. As we get pieces sponsored, we will begin putting it together. Of course, if you want to sponsor more than 1 piece, that is fine as well. Will you be the first to sponsor a piece?

Books: We would be happy to take the books that you no longer read and re-sell them to Half Price Books.

Pampered Chef: I haven't talked about this one before, but I think most of you know that I'm a Pampered Chef consultant. Most of the money I make at PC is going towards our adoption so my goal is to have 8 shows per month at least. You may be thinking "but I live in Timbuktu and there is no way Carmen will come here for a show." Well, you are right, I won't come there but we can do a catalog show or a Facebook show! The difference between a catalog show and a FB show is with a catalog show, I would actually mail you some catalogs and order forms so you could go around to all your friends, neighbors, and the stranger you met at the grocery store and try to get orders. People could also order online. Towards the end of the show, you would need to mail back the order form carbon copies and any checks for orders that you have. For a FB show, everyone would just order online and there wouldn't be any catalogs involved. This month is also Help Whip Cancer month so we have some special products available that will benefit the American Cancer Society! Right now I have 3 shows books this month so I'm looking for 5 more. Could it be you?

Saving Money

This morning I read an article called 10 Seriously Easy Ways to Save Money. This list included having a money jar, using a grocery list, buy a reusable water bottle and refill it yourself, shop when you're in a hurry, do things yourself, make your own coffee and lunch, go to the library and exercise. Most families who are adopting also try to save money wherever they can. In our case, I have started making household cleaners, laundry and dishwasher soap, using alternative conditioners and shampoo, etc. which is MUCH less expensive than buying them. We also save our coins, not eat out as often, and make as much money as possible. One way that we are making more money is through a blogging system. You can make 100% commission on your blog posts and so far, we have made about $300. If you would like more information on this, click here. I am also trying to have more Pampered Chef shows. Ultimately, I would like to have at least 8 shows a month. Those shows include fundraisers, cooking, catalog, and FB shows! I would also love to do my first bridal shower show if you know anyone close by who is getting married. :-) If you would like to help us by hosting a show, contact me! You can get great products and help us as well!

So I would like to hear from some of you. What things do you do regularly to save money?

Fundraiser Friday

First, a recap of our Usborne books eShow. The show ended on October 2 and thanks to some last-minute buyers, we closed the show with $834.70 in commissionable sales! That means we got $300 in free books but more importantly $208.68 that will be put toward our adoption! Once Amy gets her commission, she will be sending it to us and at that time I will update our thermometer. In the meantime.....

THE CARDS ARE HERE....and they are SOOOOOO CUTE! As I was opening the first box (which happened to be the box of kids cards) Jeremiah said "They are so neat!" When I told him they were for a fundraiser he said "You mean they're not for me?" We will be selling them for $31.10 ($30 for the cards plus tax). That means that each card that was hand-crafted just for you, is only $1.04. WOW! We will plan to have at least 1 box of each with us so you can look at them if you want to. Once you see them, feel free to write us a check and you'll get your box! For those of you who don't live near us, don't despair! We can still send them to you, you'll just have to pay whatever the shipping cost is. Usborne will give us $13 for each box sold and then Amy will be giving us 100% of her commission again so in total, we will make $15.89 PER BOX. We have to purchase these boxes 15 at a time, so when we run out, we will order some more.

You can click here to see the keepsake boxes that they come in. You can also enjoy a picture of a few of the cards in the all-occasion box that Amy took. I took some pictures of both today but I didn't have time to upload them so I'll try to do that this weekend.

My goal for this fundraiser is to sell at least 30 BOXES by Christmas. Can we do that? YES WE CAN!

Update on Cards for a Cause fundraiser

Amy Adkins (the consultant for Usborne books) and I have been trying to figure out the easiest way to have this fundraiser show so that you aren't waiting for us to get 15 orders before putting the order in. So, we have decided to go ahead and order 15 boxes (8 all-occasion and 7 kid) so when you buy your box, you can get it right away! Once we sell the first 15 boxes, we'll buy 15 more, etc. For those of you who don't live near us, you can still order and we will ship the boxes to you. Of course, shipping charges will be added to the total. The boxes of cards will be sold to you for $31.10 which includes tax. So you will get 30 ADORABLE hand-made cards with matching envelopes for only $31.10! That is $1.04 per card! Garth and I will have boxes with us wherever we go so just ask to see them. We will be making $15.89 PER BOX so when we sell our first 15, we'll have $238.35 towards our adoption! The best part is as long as people are interested, we can keep buying boxes of 15 cards so this could be ongoing if need be! So, who wants to order the first box? Click here to see what the boxes look like and contact me or Garth to order some! I wonder who the first person to order will be?

Today I Kissed an Angel

Today I kissed an angel. I knew it from the start. The first time my angel smiled at me; I gave away my heart.

Today I kissed an angel; This angel child of mine. Though not of my creation, My child by God's design.

Today I kissed an angel. My heart is dancing wild; Our family, by a miracle; Blessed by our angel child.
